about the podcast
why Amerikan Therapy Is Needed NOw…
Its estimated that nearly 18% of Americans suffer from some form of mental illness in a given year, costing $193.2 billion in lost earnings per year. While mental and emotional health continue to be a pervasive issue within the United States, this is a topic that is often seen as untouchable within the black community. According to the United States Census Bureau population estimates from July 2018, there are approximately 327 million citizens within the United States with roughly 43 million (13,4%) African Americans. With these staggering numbers and the resurgence of racial tension within the United States, it has become critical for African Americans to address the topic of mental health.
Amerikan Therapy seeks to provide an informative and diverse perspective on all things black mental health in America. The podcast seeks to provide rigorous debate with an entertaining approach towards topics that are often deemed "unapproachable" within the black community. Amerikan Therapy launches May 8, 2019 on SoundCloud, Google Play, Apple, and Tidal podcasting platforms.
